Strasburg Pioneer Cemetery
Strasburg Pioneer Cemetery is a small historic cemetery located at 1462 Strasburg Road, Kitchener. Please note that there is no on-site parking. Visitors are encouraged to park nearby and walk to the cemetery entrance.
This site is the restored cemetery of the German Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in Strassburg (Strasburg). The congregation was first organized in 1844, led by its founding pastor, Rev. W. Schular. A log church was constructed on the site in 1847–1848, and the cemetery was officially established in 1850, although a small number of burials took place here earlier.
In 1893, the Strasburg congregation joined another Lutheran congregation and a new church was established in Mannheim. The original church on this site was later dismantled in 1905. Today, the memorial stones on site are the only remaining markers, and the exact grave locations are not known. Through the combined efforts of the community and the City, the memorials have been salvaged and restored, and the cemetery is recognized as historically significant.
This is an inactive pioneer cemetery. There are no lots available for sale and no burial services are conducted.
