Kitchener Cemeteries is providing support and guidance for grieving families during the COVID-19 pandemic. These services include helping families to choose a final resting place for their loved ones and working closely with funeral service operators to schedule burials.

Our offices at Williamsburg Cemetery and Woodland Cemetery are open for in-person appointments. No walk-in appointments are available.

We are taking steps to ensure the safety of visitors and staff inside the facilities:

  • Only two people are permitted inside at one time.
  • Visitors are required to review a health questionnaire before their appointment. If you answer ‘yes’ to any of the questions, please call our office to reschedule your appointment.
  • Keep at least 2 metres/6 feet between staff and those who are not from the same household.

To book an in-person appointment, please call (519) 741-2880.

Patron proof of vaccination

Proof of vaccination will not be required for funeral services, rites, or ceremonies related to a religious, wedding or funeral service or rite.

How we’re keeping you safe

We're taking additional steps to keep our work environment safe for you and our staff.

  • We have increased deep cleaning of our offices. Hand sanitizer is available in the office for use by both employees and customers.
  • All general inquiries such as asking where someone is interred, asking if a service is pre-paid, and requesting work to be done to the grounds such as adding soil to a grave, paying an invoice can all be handled over the phone.

We are accepting bookings at the Williamsburg Dedication Centre such as for memorial services. There will be reduced gathering limits and enhanced safety protocols in place. For more information please call the cemetery office.

Visiting cemeteries

To reduce the risk of transmitting COVID-19, please remember these health and safety precautions when visiting cemeteries:

  • Maintain a physical distance of at least 2 metres between you, staff and other visitors in the cemetery.
  • Practice good hand hygiene and bring hand sanitizer with you as public washrooms are not available.
  • If you are feeling unwell, experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms or are isolating, please do not visit the cemetery. Delay your visit until you are feeling well and when your isolation period is complete.
