In-ground interment options

Upright monument:

Black granite upright lot monument with vase

Choosing a lot that allows an upright monument provides families with the opportunity to place a monument that can be inscribed with dates and personalized with photo etchings or favourite sayings. Visitors and future generations are left with a genealogical path to learn more about the individual.

Choosing this option also allows the family to tend to a flowerbed, if they choose, which can be installed by cemetery staff, by request, after the monument has been placed. Please see our flowerbed options

These lots are available at: Woodland Cemetery and Williamsburg Cemetery

Flat Marker:

Flat marker lots are a less expensive alternative, which allow important and meaningful inscriptions and images to be permanently memorialized. These markers are level or flush with the ground. While flowerbeds are not permitted, in-ground vases for fresh cut flowers can be purchased and installed by cemetery staff.

These lots are available at: Woodland CemeteryWilliamsburg Cemetery, Bridgeport Cemetery and Mount Hope Cemetery

Reflection boulders:

Path running along pond lined with trees and boulders

For those looking for something more natural and less traditional, a reflection boulder is a good choice. Large, beautiful armourstone boulders can be mounted with bronze plaques that are inscribed with names, dates and a personalized epitaph. The urns would be interred in-ground at the base of the boulder. These reflection boulders are located in some of the most scenic areas of Williamsburg Cemetery. Choose one along the path that wraps around a picturesque pond, in the interior of the Stoney Ridge wall or along the putting green in our very own golf section.

Scattering gardens:

Large boulder along stone path in a treed area

For families that are looking for an affordable, simple option that is located in a natural area of the cemetery - scattering is an appropriate choice. Cremated remains can be scattered on top of the earth and covered with bark chips. Cemetery staff will facilitate this process; however families can be involved if they wish.

By choosing a cemetery scattering garden you are choosing a permanent resting place that will never change ownership, where a cottage or a park can. A permanent location everyone can visit and also where information of an individual will be permanently recorded.

Memorial options for scattering can include individual bronze name plaques within the scattering gardens or there are many tribute options available.

This option is available at: Williamsburg Cemetery

Ossuary:

Another option other than scattering that is unique and affordable is our ossuary. Located in the golf section near our wetlands, the ossuary is an underground chamber positioned below our replicated putting green. Cremated remains can be decanted into the underground chamber. A fitting choice for those that love the game of golf or for an individual who wants the most simple and inexpensive option.

Above-ground interment options

For families who prefer to have urns interred above ground, there are many different styles of columbaria located in various sections within Woodland and Williamsburg cemeteries. Columbaria, and their memorialization, are less traditional yet sophisticated in design. A columbarium is an above-ground structure designed to hold cremated remains inside individual compartments called niches.

Outdoor Columbaria:

Large black and grey monuments with dedication centre in background

Columbaria are composed of many niches. Within this community of niches families can choose a niche where urns can be placed. Memorialized with bronze laurel wreaths which are fashioned with names and dates and mounted to the front of each niche.
