Kitchener: Cemeteries

Tree of Remembrance

Tree of remembrance

Join Kitchener Cemeteries during the month of December to celebrate, remember and give back.

Each year, families are invited to the Dedication Reception Centre at Williamsburg Cemetery to see the Tree of Remembrance. This breath-taking 20-foot fir tree is decorated by staff and long-time community volunteers.

In an effort to help, Williamsburg Cemetery features a Christmas tree that is ready to be dressed with donations of new hats, mitts, scarves, socks and boots. We invite you to drop by Williamsburg and contribute toward this worthy cause.

All items will be donated to local charities, such as St. John's Kitchen, which provides support and outreach services in downtown Kitchener, as well as the Salvation Army and YWCA Mary's Place.

Both trees are located in the Dedication Reception Centre at Williamsburg Cemetery at 1541 Fischer Hallman Road. Guests are welcome to drop-off donations, hang an ornament or quietly reflect.

Information about the event for 2017 will be available in the fall.
